Allergy medicine question

You probably want to talk to your doctor. Perhaps Zyrtec just isn't a good medication for you.
[this is good]
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE ask your healthcare professional about combining any meds--!!!
Active ingredients can combine and produce dangerous adverse effects. You can visit the websites for the various drugs and read all the info on drug interactions, but even then, unless you know what all the terms really mean (and they are NOT written for patients, even if they say they are) then you can get into a lot of trouble. Even foods can interact with pharmaceuticals.

If you can't reach your doctor at least talk to a good pharmacist.
I worked in a pharmaceutical company for 24 years: these chemicals are nothing to mess with, even the over-the-counter ones. Also -- some active ingredients can CAUSE the exact symptoms you're trying to get rid of, so depending on what is prescribed, sometimes a decrease in dose is needed, rather than an increase. I'm not saying this is the case for you, but it happens a lot, with many meds.

I hope you get relief soon!
I agree with Robbbiedobbbie. My little brother is graduating in the spring with his PharmD and I've learned from him to check on everything before taking any action.

Your best bet is to talk to your doctor or a good pharmacist before you start combining anything. Good luck!!

Of course check with doctor, or at the Pharmacy, but Benadry is probably alright with zyrtec, Claritin, on the other hand is probably not a good idea.

Also, there is a problem with certian medications giving people rebound symptoms, if you are using too much or even quite a lot. Meaning, exactly what robbie said, they actually create a worse congestion when used too frequently. I've had this happen with both nasal sprays (caused my nasal membranes to swell and breathing was soooo uncomfortable) and actually Over the counter cold remedies... ick.

Good luck. Thedres not much you can do to really avoid the Pollen, I remember in NC it coats the cars green.

Hi, ILE!
I hope you found some relief! I, too, would have just said "ask your doctor"....although you could probably also get the opinion of a pharmacist you trust.

Hey, I totally forgot until right now to give you the broccoli casserole recipe. I am so sorry! Here it is.....my grandma made it all the time and it's super easy and good!

10 oz. frozen chopped broccoli, thaw
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 c. minute rice
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. chopped celery
8 oz. Cheez Whiz
Mix together all ingredients and put into casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 35 minutes.

Regular rice may also be used but this would require a longer baking time.

Oh, I usually use minced dry onion when in a rush, it works just as well....AND you can use cream of celery soup instead of chicken soup and forget chopping the celery, too! ;)
