- Tell us about a mistake you have made.
- When was the last time you did something fun?
- What's the last thing you learned?
- Show us something you had since you were little.
1. On Saturday. We went to BooksAMillion and I knowingly overspent.
2. A couple of Christmas's ago we went Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving. I forgot to write every single purchase down in the checkbook. The bank statement came, and not a single purchase was on there...so about a month later everything started bouncing and I couldn't figure out why....until the next statement came in. Oops!! The bank was extremely nice and split the bounce fees with me 50/50. I am a loyal customer! And now, if it seems like we have too much or too little money: I check the account out on-line.
3. Something fun? uhm...back in May we went on a canoe/float trip down the Buffalo River in TN. I still have the scars.
4. Last thing I learned? I learn something new every day. I can't pinpoint a specific thing, though.
5. I've had 'Teddy' since Christmas 1971. The blanket he is on is from that time, too.
- When grilling, what type of grill do you prefer? Gas, charcoal, etc...
- Are you planing any vacations this summer?
- Do you tan or burn?
- what's your favorite summer pastime?
- Show us a beach.
1. I definately prefer anything grilled over charcoal than anything grilled on gas.
2. Nope, no vacations this summer. I plan on taking time off at Christmas so I can spend time with my family and the newest addition (due to arrive in less than one week!!!)
3. I burn, then tan...and the tan can last for a long long time...months.
4. Favorite summer pastime? From when I was a kid? uhm...swimming? blueberry picking when we lived in Maine and we had to go out into the woods to find the plants and the berries.
5. I don't have any beach pictures on this computer....sorry.
- How long have you been blogging?
- Do you remember what first got you into blogging?
- Have you ever met anyone in person from blogging, internet dating...etc?
- Do you blog everyday, or just once in a while?
- Show us something blog worthy.
1. VOX is my first 'official' blog. I've been here since October 2006. But, I belong to several on-line 'groups' and I tell all there, too. The one I've been a member of for the longest will have it's 8th 'creation' day this July.
2. What first got me here was the desire to be able to vent and scream about lifes little things and not have my husband or family accidentally come across it. Well, since then I've come clean and told my name and stuff...I still vent and scream; I just make sure some posts are set to neighborhood only and I know who my neighbors are. I first got involved with my on-line group because we were all women who were pregnant and due in January 2000. I call 'em all 'The Mom's'.
3. I've met many of 'The Mom's'. In the beginning it was a group of 20, now we've dwindled down to 16. Out of the original 20 I've met 9. Other than The Mom's I haven't met anyone in person.
4. I blog whenever I feel like it. Sometimes it is once a day or more, sometimes it is several days between posts. But, I try to read everything my neighbors post and I respond to a lot of them.
5. Something blog worth? Tomorrow is the annual company picnic. I can't show it to you today...but I can blog about it tomorrow night.
1. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
2. What are some goals you set for yourself?
3. Do you lean better by hands on, or from books?
4. What do you wish you could do better at?
5. Show us something done.
1. We will no longer be living in this house. It will be sold and we will be living in/near T-Town. Hopefully we will have been there long enough to become Foster/Adoptive Parents and our house will be filled with children. I imagine I will still be working. Hopefully for the same company I am now (I really enjoy my job) I will be doing basically what I'm doing now, only in a more supervisory position as the QA division will grow and I will have seniority! Jordan will be 16 (ACK!!). He will be one of the 'smart kids', maybe be in the band, and have a job.
2. Goals for myself. Be more patient with Jordan. Be a more involved parent. Be the best I can be with whatever it is I'm doing at the time.
3. I'm definately a hands-on learner. Jordan is an auditory learner. He has a terrific memory (Chris has a photographic memory...Jordan has a 'heard it/learned it/memorized it memory.)
4. Concentrate and have more patience.
5. Another school year done. Five awards won:
- How many times have you moved in your lifetime?
- If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you go?
- Do you own or rent your home?
- What is the furthest distance you have moved?
- Show us something around your house.
1. Today, Friday, I turn 43; I've moved 25 times and the house is about to be on the market for a 26th move. The longest I've ever lived in the same house has been when we (Chris, Jordan and I) were in Texas from Feb. 1998 until August 2001, this house is the second longest from May 2003 until now...May 2007: WOW!! I just realized that I've lived in this house longer than I've ever lived anywhere...
2. If I could live anywhere I'd live where there were four distinct seasons. I'm tired of warm/hot all the time, never having snow or 'pretty' weather for more than two weeks at a stretch.
3. Well, it's kind of a both: technically my Dad owns the house and we 'rent' from him. But, we picked the house, we pay for all most maintenence on it. When we sell it we get to keep whatever profit is made to put down on our next house. My Dad is a great guy.
4. The summer of '76 we moved from Maine to California. Talk about culture shock....and I was at the ripe old age of 12. That is the summer I found out what a book-mobile was. I couldn't believe that their was a library on wheels and it came less than a block from my house. Not only was that way cool, but they let me check out as many books as I could read in a weeks time. There were many times that summer I checked out enough books to read a book a day.
5. Something around my house? Here are my summer porch plants/winter house plants. The thing with the sandals on it is the crate/box that we keep on the front porch for OC to get in on cold winter nights. I guess now that summer is here I could take it and put it away....
1.When you need to be somewhere, do you tend to be late, early, or right on time?
2.Have you ever been pulled over, or gotten trouble because you were in a hurry?
3.What was one of the reasons you left a previous job?
4.How long does it take for you to get ready to go?
5.Show us something you can't leave home without
1. I used to always be early. Always. Being late stresses me. I hate to be late. The past few years I've been running late almost all the time. If it's *just* me, I'm on time or early....if I'm trying to get me, the kid, and the husband all out the door; while I make sure the cat, the dogs, and the other critters are good for the day; then we run late. (Because I get no help from the other two...and a person can only get up so early in the morning.)
2. Me? speed? nah...not that I've ever gotten caught at it anyway? *innocent look* I have, however gotten pulled over for an expired tag, which also led to a ticket for driving with an expired liscence. Another time I got pulled over because the officer couldn't see my tag (well, that was because it wasn't on the front of the car, it was *in* the car; I couldn't figure out how to attach it to the front....)
3. I've left previous jobs for stress related reasons. The job got much more stressful than the money was worth. I left Wal~Mart after 10 years to be a stay at home mom...best decision I ever made.
4. Depends on where I'm going, what I'm doing, and what time of day it is. I can get out of bed at 4:30, take a shower, get dressed, do my make-up, make sure both Chris and Jordan are up and getting ready, make coffee, take care of all the critters and be ready to walk out the door at 6:00; IF everything is going smoothly.
5. I don't leave home without my purse. Even if I'm just going a couple of miles down the road. You never know when something might come up.
- What color(s) are your favorite?
- What color are your eyes?
- Which color(s) describe your mood at this moment?
- What color do you wear the most?
- Show us something colorful.
1. My favorite color is purple; followed closely by pink.
2. My eyes are blue, sometimes; depending on my mood and/or the color clothes or eye makeup I'm wearing they can have green in them.
3. Whatever color would depict: thrilled to not be sick anymore. which would NOT be green! LOL
4. Black, jean color, purple, blue...I don't think I have a specific color that I wear more often than others. I don't wear much green, red or orange.
5. Something colorful?....hmmm....let me think.....
- What type of work do you do?
- What would be your dream job?
- Have you ever volunteered, or done work for a charity?
- Do you like what you do?
- Show us something that is work related.
1. I am a member of the QA (Quality Assurance) Team for FactSet Research Systems, content division. Basically I double check other people's work to make sure it was done right. If I find errors I send the work back to the person that made the error and have them fix it. There are special projects that come down and the team as a whole works on them until we get the projects done.
2. Dream job? Money is not an option? Something/anything having to do with infants/toddlers. If I couldn't be a stay at home mom, then I'd want to work at a daycare or some other place that has babies/toddlers.
3. One year I was the team leader for my Wal~Mart store's Children's Network Telethon. We had a blast with fund raisers: a raffle, silly hat contests, cook-outs. It was fun...but a lot of hard work. I don't remember how much we raised that year, but at the time it was a record amount for our store.
4. Do I like my job? For the most part, yeah....it gets boring, it gets stressful, and it gets lonely....but as a whole I like it. I got sent to NYC in October of 2005, it is going to take me to California later this year and to India at the beginning of next year.
5. View from the NYC office window on the only day the sun shone during my visit. Crappy camera, crappy picture..sorry.
- What's the worst thing you have to clean in your home?
- Do you recycle? If so what?
- Are you a shower in the morning person or shower in the evening person?
- How often do you clean?
- Show us something that needs cleaning.
1. The worst thing to clean in this house? The showers...there are three of them and since I hate to scrub I always let them get 'gross' before I scrub them, which of course only makes it that much worse. If I could just convince myself to clean them one a week or so....then it probably wouldn't be so bad.
2. After doing much research on this issue it has come to my attention that the only energy saving thing to recycle is aluminum...everything else takes as much from the environment to recycle as it does to create a new one. So, no, I don't recycle.
3. I shower in the morning. It helps wake me up and gets my day started off with a splash of energy.
4. Depends on what you mean by 'clean'. My house gets de-cluttered fairly regularly. It gets vacuumed, every so often...dusted less often than that. The bathrooms get cleaned when I feel like it or we have company coming over. The kitchen gets cleaned up about once a day or so.....I have better things to do than clean.
5. My desk needs to be decluttered so it can be cleaned. The dust on the keyboard is thick enough for me to write my name in ....
- Have you every been hospitalized?
- Tell us about the worst pain you have ever had.
- When was the last time you had the flu?
- What are you home remedies you swear by?
- Show us a favorite blankie or stuffed animal.
1. I've been hospitalized several times. I must say I sleep very well when I'm in the hospital. I can adjust the bed just so, I don't have any worries...sleep, blessed sleep. I've been in for pnuemonia, strep throat, and for child birth; twice.
2. The worst physical pain I have ever felt has been from a migraine. It was bad enough that I went to the ER and they checked me for a brain aneurysm. The worst pain I've ever felt was when I had to leave my baby behind at the cemetary.
3. I'm not sure I've ever had the flu. ****knocks on wood**** But, I've had strep throat numerous times, pnuemonia, mono, and various other relatively short lived bugs.
4. Sleep. When in doubt, sleep.
5. This is my Teddy Bear. He's been around since 1970. Teddy Bear never got a 'real name'...and he's been dressed in a dress for many years and has just been my Teddy Bear. There was a time in my life that I wanted him to be buried with me; I think I'm past that now. When I was first married to my ex; my Teddy Bear shared the bed with us. When I was first married to CR my Teddy Bear was part of the 'made bed'. I've finally become secure enough for Teddy Bear to reside in my cedar chest with my doll blanket (also in the picture). The doll blanket was supposed to be my baby sister's, but when she died at birth my Mom gave the blanket to me to play with. (I wasn't aware of this information until recently.)
