But after tonight I'm not so sure I am.
Jordan takes Karate and he has been since April. This past Saturday he took the belt test and was promoted to Orange belt. I was so proud. The instructor, Mr. Eaves, has been telling me that Jordan could move up to the teen/adult class whenever I was ready for it. Well, Chris, Jordan and I discussed it and decided that since he'd have to move up to that class when his birthday comes that he might as well move up now---new belt, new class.
Monday was his first time in the teen/adult class. I was proud of him, they did a lot more stretches, sit-ups and pushups. They had him doing things that he hadn't even seen much less practice. He did it all without a complaint and with a smile on his face. At the end of the class Mr. Eaves made a point to say how impressed he was with the way Jordan handled his first teen/adult class.
Then we went tonight. Tonight they sparred. This class is all belts from beginner to purple (no brown, red, or black belts in this class, yet). This class is also for people aged 13 and up. Jordan doesn't turn 13 for another whole week. He is the youngest and the smallest in the class. Tonight they sparred. Some of his friends are in this class and they are a much higher rank than he is---they couldn't wait to team up with him to practice and spar. I was okay when the one kid that is only a little bigger than Jordan kicked him in the ribs...Jordan should have been defending himself better and this was a purple belt to Jordan's Orange. Then Jordan got kicked in the stomach---again, after a deep Mom breath I was okay. Then a third person kicked him...this time in the face---and my baby came away with a bloody nose! I tell you what. The Momma bear in me rose up and I wanted to just shake the crap out of the boy that kicked him. He threw an illegal kick. But, Jordan didn't have his hands up in the defensive stance, if his hands had been in the right spot the kick wouldn't have gotten through.
I was very proud of my boy, though. He wanted to keep fighting/sparring even with blood running out of both nostrils. I had to pull him over to the side and hold some paper towels against his nose. He sure didn't want to have to stop---he was itching to get back out there. The boy that kicked him was not happy with himself, he was near tears and kept apologizing. I got the bleeding stopped and Jordan went back out and sparred some more. He kept his hands up, though.
I thought I was ready for my 'baby' to move up to the teen/adult class. I would be---if I didn't feel the need to sit out in the chairs and watch. I don't know what I'm going to do when he ends up sparring the men in the class. I suppose I'll either be going outside or making Chris take him. I'd hate to do something stupid and embarrass my child.
- So, we had our first house showing this morning. An older couple from Florida wanting to retire to this area. They are looking for a place with some land and with the potential for gardening and they have cash in hand. I stayed up until midnight last night and got up early this morning to get the house looking great. Every time I got one little project done another would rear it's ugly head. Jordan, the dogs and I left the house this morning and I wasn't feeling to confident about the shape of the house. Sue (the real estate lady) called just a few minutes ago to say that the house showed really well, it just wasn't what the couple is looking for. ~sigh~ At least it is mostly clean and now I just need to maintain.
- While we were out Jordan and I took the dogs to the local park. I made sure the fence was all closed up and I let them run in one of the baseball fields. Darcy was in doggy heaven. She ran and ran just for the joy of running. Makes me feel bad that she doesn't have the opportunity to do that here. But, if we let her off the chain here at the house she chases cars and the other neighborhood dogs. And she won't always come when called if she is intent on chasing them, either. So, I see more trips to the park for some running in Darcy's future.
- The 'spot' on my breast had another little episode last night where it oozed a little 'clump' and left a hole in my nipple that was burning. I got up this morning and my nipple looks completely normal. White bump completely gone--no pain, burning, tenderness, or anything abnormal. I'm even contemplating canceling my doctor's appointment.
- Jordan goes for his yellow belt in Karate tonight. This is exciting. It is amazing how far he has come in just three months. He has good classes and bad classes but all of the kids have those. It won't be too long and he will have to move to the 'adult' class. I hope once he's there that he continues to improve.
- Chris is having a good time in India. He is talking about playing golf at the Hyderabad Country Club this weekend. How cool would it be to be able to say: "I played golf in India"?
- Gas is down to $3.87 how sad is it that this price excites me?
- Balanced the checkbook and paid bills yesterday. At one point I thought we were doing great and could pay off all the little bills that seem to accumulate month to month (magazine subscriptions, books via mail, etc...). Then I happened to look at the checkbook again and realized that I had forgotten to write down an $800+ check that I wrote out to someone. heh, good thing I caught that BEFORE I paid all the little bills. Now, though, I'm scared of us running short before Chris comes back from India. Sucks to go from 'wohoo! gonna get completely caught up!' to 'sorry, Jordan, we can't go out for Mexican tonight we're running a little short on money.' in just a few short minutes. Once I know how much Chris spends this weekend we'll be better off as I'll know how much to deduct.
- Hung mini-blinds last night---and didn't throw any of them across the room this time. I hope to never have to hang another set of mini-blinds anytime soon.
- Laptop is still not 'fixed' as I was told by Chris and my boss's boss to stay home today to make sure the house was in good shape and to make sure Darcy didn't get away from Jordan. Hopefully it will be fixed on Tuesday when I go in to the office.
- Blueberries need to be picked in a desperate way. I'm terrified of there being a snake out there...and I'm out of freezer room. What to do...what to do?
