So, Chris and I have finally started walking. We walk up and down our road during what would be our lunch time. I counted today, 350 steps from one end of the road to the other. We've been going five rounds thinking that was pretty close to a mile. Well, unfortunately it isn't. We need to do another 'leg' to get in a mile. ~sigh~ I don't think I can do another leg. I'd be okay if it were straight with no hills. But, it isn't. Heading to the right out of the driveway is two small down hill declines, a short flatish spot followed by a very short but steep upward climb. (I think it is about a seven foot climb in 60 steps.) Coming back down I have to really concentrate to walk heel-toe because it is steep enough that I tend to walk on my toes to help contol the 'descent'. When you get back to the driveway, then it is a little flat followed by a very small decline and a very small incline. Depending on the time of day, about a third of it is in the shade, and the only traffic we've ever encountered was the mail lady today. When it is the fifth leg of the journey and we are coming up the incline from the stopsign towards the driveway---my leg muscles are killing me and I know I can't make that 'climb' again. It is a struggle to get to the top---and we use the last part to 'cool down' before coming inside. I don't know how to get in another 350 steps to make that mile. ~sigh~
Here's something strange that I don't understand. I yawn a lot while walking. I thought I was breathing right, slowly, in through the nose, out through the mouth---and yet I yawn. It seems every fourth or fifth breath is a yawn. I try breathing deeper, but that just hurts---I try breathing faster and that just makes me more tired faster.
I'm worse out of shape than I thought. ~sigh~
